City of Colville Parks and Recreation Tiger-Tri Covid-19 Update

The City of Colville is committed to safeguarding the health of the public and our staff members.  As we monitor the spread of COVID-19, we want to keep you informed about what the City of Colville Parks & Recreation Office is doing to prevent the spread of coronavirus and how you can help.

At this time all events are being postponed all over the place, and now everyone’s fall is completely packed with spring and early summer events, we realize that this will create a challenge for participants as the race season progresses and changes happen quickly.  We are doing our best to be fluid and to keep our participants and volunteers up-to-date.

Moving Forward

At this time the 2020 Tiger-Tri is still planning to move forward as scheduled.  Staff will continue to work in the office or from home.  Staff will be working on upcoming events with the understanding that things are changing rapidly and may change tomorrow. 

Do understand with the nature of such a large event, we rely on a large number of volunteers and donations to make the Tiger-Tri & Tiger-Du a successful race.  With the unprecedented times we realize we may not be able to retain our donors, volunteers and our participants to host this event in person, at that time we will look at other options like a virtual event, later date or deferral to 2021. 

With continued communication we hope to have answers as soon as possible.  If we do have to cancel you will be notified immediately and a process ready for how refunds or deferrals will be set and ready.

What You Can Do

We can all do our part to prevent the spread of illness in our community.  You can help by staying home or practicing social distancing.  Keep training as best as you can! 

Running and biking are great and you don’t have to do it near a bunch of people, of course follow guidelines set by your community and watch your space, six feet even when passing the person in front of you.  Swimming, maybe you have a favorite lake, its cold waters may help you swim a little faster or test out a new wetsuit.  We always recommend not swimming alone, but you can meet a friend, ask someone to spot you from shore, and of course keep your high fives virtual. 

Be safe out there please, we want everyone to be safe and healthy.  Also, check in with local health districts and state websites for up-to-date information.  Be aware that symptoms may appear days after exposure and include fever, cough and shortness of breath.  If you or a household member has any symptoms or are sick at all it is best that all household members stay home.
